A friend and I made a living for a time fixing bad roof jobs done by this one particular company. They mainly targeted the elderly. We fixed their work for a reduced rate because we knew what needed to be fixed before we looked at any of the jobs. The idiots were consistent if nothing else. The state finally put them out of business. The guy running the company was probably licensed in some way, shape or form. We weren't. My friend was an apprentice. He could build a home from the footings up. I went through a building maintenance program and could do the same. We filled out and signed a contract. We stuck to our end of the contract. We got 100% of our business through word-of-mouth. The other guy's license probably looked like this:
