Subtle language point: I get wary when I see someone using "his or her" and "he or she" as pronouns.
These are in widespread use so they're valid English but to me when a native speaker uses them, that's starting to indicate transphobia. The trans-friendly singular pronouns for someone of undetermined gender are they/there.
Example: They were wearing a cool hat and I liked their shoes
Not: He or she was wearing a cool hat and I liked his or her shoes
