I don't remember egg noodles at my grandparents, although with a German heritage it could have been possible. But they had a farm, so it was meat and veg, bottled fruit (my grandmother was a great preserver), bread with jam and cream, delicious morning and afternoon teas especially when there were farm workers there (eg shearers) or visiting neighbours.
