i hate gnome too but at least it doesn't look like windows, and you can restart it when in X11 if it starts to bork
i'm still finding mos of the things i want to use don't work properly with wayland, the "transition" is a foreverwar like ipv6
i'll step across the gap when it's not a metro 2033 floating bricks hallucination
unfortunately totally bugged now but barrier soft-KVM does NOT work with wayland
xrandr of course doesn't work with wayland which means i can't fix the shitty gamma curve of my display properly
wayland also doesn't cope well with multiple monitors yet either, it's a joke, fine if you are in the target user preferences box they seem to be building for but i'm not, and i have been pissed off for almost a whole decade with everyone trying to make me use it when it doesn't work with my apps
