I've been using the same computer desk at home for 28 years. My mom bought it for me when I was in my teens. She wanted me to have a nice, office grade desk I could use in any configuration room.
My kids are playing D&D with their friends right now, and probably have all kinds of magic items. In the real world, items can be magic because of who they're connected to, even if it's just a grey office desk.
