Today someone at the farmer's market asked me to sign a petition that would increase the punishment for fentanyl. I said hell no. Hopefully more people realize that drug abuse is a symptom of other problems, and the solution is not to torture these people more. It reminds me of how people once thought people with Schizophrenia were possessed by the devil, and the solution was to beat and torture it out of them with exorcisms.
Solving the problem is hard. Treating symptoma is profitable.
