This case is a prime example of why Bitcoin matters. Unlike gold or cash, which can be physically seized, Bitcoin—if properly secured (e.g., with multisig, seed phrases, or self-custody tools like Nunchuk or Sparrow Wallet)—is much harder for authorities to confiscate arbitrarily.
It’s absurd that someone can lose a quarter-million dollars in assets without being charged with a crime, yet this kind of legal theft happens frequently under civil forfeiture laws.
