My nostalgic plan had been to cycle across the Fehmarnsundbrücke, a futuristic land mark when I was young, and with a great ("where the birds fly"), but there are roadworks on it, and you can neither walk nor cycle. Instead, they offer a free and marvellously equipped bus shuttle, with an extremely friendly driver.
