Hard to believe that show first aired 27 years ago, reflected an actual emerging trend at the time, and yet somehow here we are now in 2024 still fussing about gendered washrooms.
On the plus side at least in some progressive cities I've seen some progress. Personally I've attended a variety of bars and restaurants in Toronto that have gender non-segregated washrooms. They tend to be more comfortable and pleasant for everyone to use since at minimum they have floor to ceiling partitions and proper gap-less doors for each stall so there's more privacy.
