I was born and raised in DeSoto County, and my first life’s goal was to escape. And I did! I didn’t feel like I’d gotten far enough away until I was standing on a Pacific beach while my husband looked for apartments in SF, but by god I did escape eventually. I’ve been pondering the ethics of simply never going back, not even for my estranged parents’ funerals and estate closure stuff, lately.
ANYWAY. Never forget that in Mississippi, the cruelty is the point.
