Apparently, the mountains of Jamaica will greatly reduce the power of this one, thus saving the Yucatan, but at what price? I fear for the islands.
They said that this year would be a lot like the 2005 hurricane season, so like you say, this is not a good start.
I have relatives who live on the beach in Florida. They don't evacuate for hurricanes, because they say their home is well-built. It drives me nuts.
