Guyana calls for “peace” with Venezuela and respect for the ruling on the disputed oil zone
The president of #Guyana, Irfaan Ali, said Tuesday that he seeks a peaceful solution with #Venezuela in the conflict they have over an oil-rich border territory, and called on Nicolás #Maduro to respect the ruling to be adopted by the International Court of Justice #ICJ on the dispute. During his participation in the #CERAWeek energy and oil forum in Houston, where he arrived to promote investments in his country, he said his nation “believes in peace” and will do “everything necessary for peace to be maintained, mainly in the western hemisphere.” He also affirmed that he hopes to strengthen his ties with the #UnitedStates so that they refine their fuel and then send back part of it at lower prices for their citizens.
