One thing we all should remember about authoritarians like Trump and Orban. Violence and norm breaking is a source of power for them. Not weakness. For every thoughtful center right person who gets turned off another two on the far right get excited. Attacking them for promoting violence just amplifies their message.
On the other hand attacking them where they are out of step with the mainstream can work. Marriage equality and reproductive rights and drug laws are some of where they stumble.
