"Utah is one of the 32 US states that forcibly sterilized people in the 20th century under the influence of eugenics. Only three states have taken accountability by compensating survivors. Researchers estimate that as many as 48 people may still be alive who were sterilized against their will under the Utah State government. The state has issued an apology, but no survivors have come forward to claim compensation. The researchers are working to identify survivors and secure financial compensation for them."
