It's believed to be a pseudo anonymous note from satoshi. I've checked with a lot of people, mike hearn, martti, adam back, amir. No one has said its fake, and I dont think it is. But it's also not easy to prove. I think Satoshi just left some thoughts for anyone interested, but not alot of people were, because, bitcoin moved on.
