This blog post makes some good points about using "login" and "permissions" for authentication and authorization, respectively. In summary the two "auth" words sound similar enough that it can lead to confusion for many, and "authn" and "authz" aren't much better.
This is something I might consider in future writing. I always try to make my tech explanations a simple as possible.
