I still like my current process for writing talks. I start with a title and a rough idea. Then I freestyle the talk in my head without knowing where the story goes. I usually do this over and over again on my commute weeks or months before I give the talk. Once I'm happy with it, I create a written outline and practice the talk. Finally, I create the slides.
That works really well if you don't have a lot of time to prepare.
