Well.. shoot.
I was pretty hopeful for Nostr.
I really like the simplicity of key signed events over decentralized relays. Its perfect. Its the same concept which drives the Scuttlebutt protocol.
But after following the posts of key developers for a while, IMO, Nostr is headed in the wrong direction.
And the prime driver of Nostr decentralization is no longer decentralization itself, but to enable a crypto currency layer, which will replace common social platform interactions with micro-payments. This is what all the prime devs are pushing toward, and are excited about.
And the prime driver for this wrong direction, seems to be Jack Dorsey.
I dont really care if people want to build the ability to exchange currency over a decentralized relay system. That helps keep that power out of the hands of megabanks, and governments. But when that becomes the prime driver,... well, greed always causes people to compromise freedom, and make stupid decisions. In terms they would understand, its Shitcoin thinking.
