The amount of packages dependent on backdoored xz packages on my Macs isn’t small. A brew update fixed it but I had forgotten the old Mac Pro, so I checked before updating.
Thankfully none of my affected machines had an exposed SSH server. Had version 5.6.1 on all Macs here. I access them remotely via a Linux tunnel (unaffected).
I guess this answers why using ‘stable’ versions has meaning.
