"Gadi and Judy Hagai, a 73-year-old Israeli-American couple, were kidnapped by Hamas militants after being shot and injured during a terror attack in their settlement. The couple, who were on a daily walk, were caught in the crossfire of a Hamas attack and were shot. Gadi was killed, and Judy was seriously injured. She managed to make a phone call to her sister-in-law, who was able to alert the authorities. The couple's children and grandchildren were left in a state of panic, trying to contact them but to no avail. It was only later, on December 22, that it was confirmed that Gadi had been killed, and his body was being held by Hamas. Judy was also later confirmed to have been killed, and her body was taken to the Gaza Strip."
