So, under capitalist democracy, people will suffer; inequality and exploitation are baked into the system, and the maintenance of this exploitation demands oppression. The people will look around and see this, and understand that something is wrong, even if they lack the theoretical understanding to explai what and why. That is when they will look for alternatives within the system.

The ruling class cannot offer a true alternative to the status quo - it's too against their interests - but they also have to present the illusion of choice. A true alternative could never be considered, so they only prop up choices so ridiculous no one would ever vote for them, and end up shocked when people desperate for change end up electing the "wrong" choice.

Hence, the natural propensity of capitalist democracy towards the creation of the Goober Candidate, an opportunist clown who knows the same of governing as a bacterium knows about aerospace engineeering.
