Unfortunately, the inertia required to get people in any meaningful sense, onto a new platform, is insurmountable.
Need to either have a completely new, significant, and easily seen and observed point of difference that's appealing, or it needs to somehow vampire attack and sneakily absorb or integrate with an existing network somehow. Just my 2c.
Its an improvement on Twitter, but it just won't ever replace it due to network effects unless it can somehow auto pull and absorb all of its content or something.
