By the same token, in California and elsewhere vast fire-fighting resources have been expended trying to protect small handfuls of homes situated in remote forested areas that the rest of us WISH we could call home. Why don't these lucky and/or wealthy people pay for their own property rescue? When I wrote to legislators about this discriminatory use of resources, they blew me off. Guess who funds them...?
This discrimination is commonplace.
