Panama announces the closure of the Darien Plug route 🇵🇦
Panama's president, José Raúl Mulino, announced the closure of the #migration centers that has been part of the #Darién Plug route, the jungle area that more than one million migrants have crossed since 2016. #Mulino assured that the transit of people heading to the #UnitedStates has decreased by 98%. “We will no longer allow #migrants in that area of the Darien and we close an operation that began in 2016. It gives me great satisfaction to have complied and to have closed the Darien, with what that means for regional and Panamanian security.”
