If you're curious how I installed FreeDOS on the Pocket386, here you go:

Basically, it was these steps:
1 Start manual install using virtual machine on Linux
2 FDISK then FORMAT then SYS /FORCE:CHS
3 Finish the install using SETUP ADV, skip the "transfer system files" step
4 Move CF card back to Pocket396
5 Reboot
