It doesn’t need to be either/or.

Nothing prevents having smaller scale with more guarantees, and something else with larger scale and fewer guarantees.

And of course there are different kinds of scales too.

You can have billion people talking to say, 100 other each with hundreds of messages a day per user — but direct reach limited to the hundreds. That’s large scale in one sense.

And you could have also another system were 1M a day reaching a billion people (or at least their computers). That’s large scale in a different sense.

I do think it’s possible for Nostr to become the first — and its an important thing.

But it needs quite some work before actually reaching that stage.
