BART is actually one of the few things that upgraded their ventilation in response to COVID
MUNI apparently also has a HVAC system that replaces the air on transit every minute, I can't find anything about improvements though
(I still wear a mask)
I'm sure public transit could do better but they are one of the few branches of government which is trying. And most private businesses don't seem to be. Anecdotally I've been safer taking transit than doing whatever everyone else is doing
