Why this is important: in damus, the purple icon next to peoples name is supposed to protect against impersonation, nip05 or not. If you follow people who start impersonating then that icon is no longer useful. This is why it’s pretty important to unfollow people who impersonate people. This is why I have a zero tolerance policy for people I follow who do this, the icon means nothing otherwise.
It helps a bit, it’s better if you just don’t follow people who impersonate people.
