The thing is, it's not really controversial among copyright experts to say that these activities *are* fair use. Scraping isn't stealing - not legally and not ethically. Scraping is good, actually:

Which is not to say that artists don't have a legit - and serious - beef with AI companies. Their pitch is: "train our products on your workers' skilled output, fire your workers, replace them with our products."
