yes, that was my shorthand for the link between a rule of law argument & the tax argument; I agree taxes are certnaly not punishment(s), as I've made clear elsewhere - I'd also want to stress I have no problem with a well crafted windfall tax, but was offering the objectors argument in repose to the Q.
