I know Altman was saying that saying please and thank you was costing him a fortune in electric on extra compute.
Of course if enough people are paying per token instead of flat rate plans getting them to send more prompts drives up revenue.
After thinking on it a couple of days I think it does have a socratic effect that makes it more useful to me.
