Let's imagine if Perriad (antag.) had turned Jerya (MC) away when she first arrived, very irregularly, at the Dawnsingers College. There wouldn't be one book, let alone a whole series. We can also say that, despite later differences, Jerya recognises that it changed her life, and she'll always be glad of it.
