Petroleum jelly would work as a water repellant in between spark plugs and wires, and other connectors. I'd recommend automotive grade for under the hood, but regular stuff will work in a pinch.
The stuff for the battery terminals is similar, but it is different. Just ask for the battery terminal corrosion resistor stuff at any parts house.
Make sure you start off with nice and clean terminals and clamps before applying.
