It’s National Coming Out Day, and I have been out of the closet for 17 years (bisexual, queer, demisexual).

One lesson I’ve learned over the years is that queer people don’t just come out of the closet once in our lives. We come out to different groups of friends, family, coworkers, teammates, etc. at different times and in different ways, often based on where we are in exploring, discovering, understanding, and accepting ourselves.
