Compost bin time.
One of my most exhausting & labor intensive - but oddly satisfying - garden chores.
Every spring I completely dig this thing out & harvest the thick layer of soil that has built up at the bottom. Sifting takes a while bc I do it by hand - and I have to be super careful of the earthworms - but I don't mind. It's like gardening therapy.
There's all kinds of formulas for compost & some people are super scientific about it. Bless them, lol. I'm a bit too lazy for that. I just toss stuff in throughout the year, give it a good turn & water every once in a while. Ratios, temps - all that seems to sort itself out without too much fuss from me.
The result? gorgeous earthworm-rich soil. Gotta dig for it, but it's worth it.
