the war UAxRUS shows comparing numbers on paper may be misleading. wars always bring some surprises.

RUS army is not always an example of eficiency and professionalism, to say the least. 🤣

on the other hand:

USA had to provide logistical support for interventions in Libya and Mali. This does not bode well to the force projection capabilities of western europe. Would they depend on the USA again?

Portugal's 24 Leopards had zero readiness. Not a single one was fully oprational (1 or 2 y ago). And Portugal NEVER bought real ammo (10K eur a piece), only training ammo.

Germany struggled to provide fighters and support planes for afeganistan and the baltic countries (which, BTW, need foreing fighters because they have zero fighters). A few years ago, GER could not keep any of their 6 subs in the baltic sea. They have been fixing that, but yet...

Romenian army did a lot of teatrics to pass NATO inspections...

Many NATO countries are well below the 2% of PIB for defense they promised.

Difficult to say what would happen.

Finally, to activate Article 5 they would need to provoke RUS into agression. Why would the Russians do that before finishing UA, even if they wanted full war?
