Exactly!!! You can get a “lightning address” that looks like an email address. Folks can send you bitcoin directly to that address. I like https://getalby.com. You can go there and “create account” to get started.
Often instead of a like, I’ll “zap” (send satoshis). Satoshis are like cents to dollars, a small part of a bitcoin.
Depending on where / how you live today it may be hard to pay your bills straight from bitcoin, but that is changing. Meanwhile, you can convert bitcoin to fiat (old style government issued money) via an exchange who takes bitcoin and give you US Dollars or euros.
There are many services that can help you but availability varies by what legal jurisdiction (country) you live in. I use https://strike.me amongst many others. I haven’t used but have heard good things about https://www.bitrefill.com
