BTW, 4 hours isn't even close to an upper bound on walking time. I looked up two big suburbs people commute in from that have (had) transit and the Google Maps walking estimates are 10 and 16 hours, respectively.
I'm not saying that people shouldn't strike (and I think most people in tech underrate unions), but telling people to "just deal with it" when they're inconvenienced by a transit strike is only going to turn people against the cause.
