I'm rocking 128gb PC3-12600 I think. Models are loaded on my SAN over nfs. It's very snappy but it's still a 1gbit connection (110MB/s) on this machine. Im not sure disk is the issue though? Processors sit at 100% and the GPU basically idle, when running them.
