Less generically I think one of the most overlooked facts is that a nostr event can be moved and retransmitted across any relay at will by anyone (outside restrictions that require a recent time stamp on some relays).
A nostr event is considered valid if the signature, hash of the content, and the public key all line up. Once the event exists it can be transmitted and retransmitted at will. This allows for some cool features, but also means that an author has no control over where the event will eventually end up. This is likely counterintuitive to most people until you really dig into the protocol.
