If the DS plan was to dump Biden and replace Harris on the 2024 ticket, Biden's untimely death would certainly throw monkey wrench into that, making Kamala the president leading into the Democrat Convention.
In theory, Biden's death would be an absolute disaster for the DS who were hoping to dump Kamala. Now they have to build her up so that if she is actually the president, she will go into November as the incumbent.
