Frankly I kind of blame location/lack of friends that have any time or context for discussing the more... basically fur, kink, ABDL adjacent stuff. I normally prefer and thrive in my own space, on my own terms... but there's definitely that feeling like there's nobody in your real world that "gets" you and it admittedly can make me feel rather depressed.
Moreso the part about "loving some of your closest friends" - that's likely my idealistic scenario myself - I label myself as a "difficult" person in terms of the context of having a dedicated other half. I can love someone to death, but also, I need like 3 or 4 days out of the week to retreat and do me stuff. Have my own personal space that I know is my own formal place of solitude... so even my own biases are probably closer to your own, it mostly loops back to feeling as if furries, littles, kinksters, or just "weird" people don't exist in my real world.
