#OTD 8 September 1905 Emma Esther Kerr was born in Oil City, Pennsylvania. Her father, James Snowden Kerr, was part of a family business making monuments and grave markers. Her mother, Emma Freda Walz, was a daughter of a man who was part of the oil business that became Pennzoil. Emma Kerr was the youngest of 4 children born to James Kerr and his 2 wives. She married Dr. Richard Robert Van Kirk and had 4 children, her only son dying in infancy. She was my grandmother's second cousin.
