One thing we should learn from the genocide being committed by the Israeli government is that nobody is coming to help them.
Why is that important?
As you look around and we have masked men in street clothes and unmarked cars snatching people off the street, at hospitals, at schools, in court - anywhere they want - where our primary reaction is 'let's film this and THAT will bring help'
it's not coming. Nobody is going to come help. Not judges, not cops, not politicians, and certainly nobody outside the USA. They'll watch and condemn and be horrified at the degredation of democracy and casual elimination of rights - but they will do nothing.
So, when you see people saying they're ICE and 20 people filming them beat the shit out of some poor innocent.
jump in. I don't *really* know what I will do when it happens in front of me, but I hope I gather the courage to take a punch, to get arrested, to risk my life, to bring it to court, to stand up.
Unfortunately, I think we'll all find out
