I just had this thought, so it's not well developed yet, but:
There are people who believe that consciousness is purely the result of chemical reactions in the body/brain, and is therefore predictable and/or theoretically calculable.
There are others who believe that consciousness is something more; perhaps supernatural, or otherworldly.
Would the first group believe AI can become conscious via computation, and the second group believe that AI cannot become conscious without a magic spark?
