And now the new cable suddenly works with my TB16 dock. No idea why, just tried the same exact thing I did last night, but now it works. And my MacBook now supports the monitor’s full 48-100Hz variable refresh rate range (and HDR is still there, too).
I plan to run the cable on my lunch break if possible.
