Air travel used to be exciting and fun. Now it is one of the most awful and dehumanizing experiences.
Too bad there aren’t many alternatives.
Our problem is that our time preference is so high that we value getting there quickly over anything else. If you could afford the time, many continental destinations are available by car and train. It’s still possible to cross the Atlantic by ship (they call it a cruise).
I imagine traveling on airships in the early 20th century must have been magical.
