A) Call someone what they wish to be called and what everyone else calls them. This choice causes the person to feel important to you and loved. It costs no extra social energy (since everyone else calls them that) and only slight personal energy (memory).
B) Call someone what they wish to not be called to make a point. This choice shows the person you see "a point" as more important than they are as a person, that they are loved less than an arbitrary position. It also costs social energy because you are using language nobody else is using. In some ways it costs less memory energy to use new terms, but costs energy remembering to avoid the terms others use.
