(As an aside... and it gives me something to think about, so I appreciate that... concerning a free fridge - you need two things: a fridge (and shelf/pantry) and a place to put it. - Try to get both for free.
There's bound to be a person in town that has a free refrigerator. If you say you're taking for charity, they may even be able to write off the donation (local laws may vary on if you need an established group - don't worry too much if they're not able to, there will be someone with a fridge taking up space and will give it away free if you just come get rid of it for them).
So far as a place to put it, churches and even some businesses may let you park a fridge and pantry outside on their property and donate the electricity to run it so long as you maintain it (keep it clean and in good upkeep / repair).
So! You may not need to save up any money at all. Just find a fridge and find a place!
