wait, cuvettes are corundum? I always assumed quartz. EDIT: yeah the ones I used were always quartz.
2nd edit: I can only find reference to corundum crucibles, which are quite distinct from cuvettes. Interested to know if I'm wrong of course.
3rd edit: okay this is just a terminology thing. Saphire is corundum and there are sapphire cuvettes for specific applications (very expensive). Stuff not qualifying as sapphire might still get labeled corundum, the broader category, and that includes crucibles. I learned a thing!
